International Chamber Choir Competition

Since 1989, the international choral scene has met in Marktoberdorf every two years over Whitsun for one of the world's most renowned competitions for chamber choirs. In 17 competitions so far, more than 250 choirs from over 45 countries have shown in exciting competitions and extraordinary concerts what choral music has to offer nowadays.

Visitors and representatives of international music associations, competitions and festivals from more than 45 countries have so far been impressed by the very special flair of the Marktoberdorf competition. A competition in which, in addition to the high artistic performance and the musical competition, the friendship encounter has a particularly high value.

Here there is not only the rivalry of the competition. The choirs present their work and history to each other in choir encounters and work together on new literature. Joint evening concerts provide insights into the choral traditions of the different cultures, and new friendships are formed across all borders.

From 26.05. to 30.05.2023 the 18th edition since existence takes place.
